Many people, one journey
Crew and extras could be bundled into a few coaches – instead of a confusing swarm of cars around the set.
Reference · Crew Shuttle
Summer 2020, a film shoot near Berlin: around 60 crew members and 180 extras brought to the set together, low in CO2 and with proper distance – organised from a single source.
What it was about
For a film shoot in the summer of 2020 we organised the entire crew shuttle for artist Mogli and her team. The task: bring a large number of people to the set near Berlin at the same time – and to do so under strict distancing rules.
Mogli’s team comprised around 60 people, plus 180 extras on the shoot day. It was important to the film team that no one travelled alone by car, but that everyone arrived as a community: as low in CO2 as possible and, at the same time, good for the sense of team.
The shoot in numbers
Challenge & solution
A film shoot under strict distancing rules with a large group leaves no room for loose ends. For every hurdle there was a clear plan – here both sit right next to each other.
The shoot took place under strict distancing rules – travelling with proper distance was a must, not a nice-to-have.
Coaches with generous space, so that many people could be transported with enough distance between them.
A large number of people had to reach the set near Berlin at the same time – around 60 in the team, plus 180 extras.
A bundled crew shuttle instead of a swarm of cars: everyone arrived as a community, coordinated from a single source.
The film team explicitly did not want individual car journeys – the trip was meant to strengthen the sense of team.
A shared coach journey, during which the time on the way to the set was already put to good use.
The journey was to be as low in CO2 as possible.
Many people in a few coaches instead of many individual trips – the most sustainable option for a group like this.
Why a coach
As many people as possible, yet enough distance, with as little CO2 as possible – the coach brought all of this together.
Crew and extras could be bundled into a few coaches – instead of a confusing swarm of cars around the set.
The shared journey saved CO2 – a stated goal of the film team that we met with the coach solution.
The crew grew together while still on the way to the set – the time on the coach was time well spent.
From the route concept to coordination on the shoot day – we organised the entire crew shuttle.
On video
In the video, Mogli explains in her own words why she and her crew decided to travel to the film set in several coaches – and which challenges they mastered along the way.
