Most enquiries reach us for groups between 20 and 50 people, and that is exactly the spectrum the coach class covers. Instead of a fixed vehicle size, we pick the coach from our partner network that fits your number of people.
Hire a coach for 20 to 25 people
From 18 people a compact coach usually beats two minibuses: one vehicle, one driver, one group. Two separate buses mean double the coordination, two departure times and two contacts along the way.
Hire a coach for 30 people
A coach for 30 people is the classic for company outings, club trips and trade-fair visits. Depending on availability we use a compact coach or a larger vehicle with comfort to spare. That barely changes the price, see the section “When the coach is bigger than the group”.
Hire a coach for 40 or 50 people
From about 40 people you travel in a full-size long-distance coach: up to 58 seats, generous seating, Wi-Fi and plenty of space in the luggage hold. Even a group of 50 travels together in one vehicle. From around 60 people the double-decker becomes more economical.

When the coach is bigger than the group
Compact coaches are rare in Germany. For a group of 25 or 30 people a vehicle with more seats therefore often turns up. At first glance that looks oversized. Three things about that, plainly said:
Vehicle size barely changes the price
The price is driven by the driver, kilometres travelled, fuel, tolls and time on the job. The number of seats plays only a minor role. A coach with 58 seats costs about the same on the same route as a smaller vehicle.
In practice, more space is an advantage
Free neighbouring seats, more legroom, room for hand luggage inside and a hold that also takes event material or equipment. On day trips with luggage, that is often the difference between cramped and relaxed.
Even not fully occupied, the coach stays the most economical group transport
The benchmark is not the full coach but the arrival by car. According to the German Environment Agency, a long-distance coach comes to around 30 grams of CO2 equivalent per passenger kilometre, and that figure already assumes a load factor of only 53 percent. A car sits at 164 grams, more than five times as much. Even with empty seats, the coach remains the most economical way to move a group.

What does it cost to hire a bus with driver?
The biggest influence is route and time on the job, not the number of people. A day trip costs less than a multi-day tour with a driver overnight stay. The clearest jump in cost comes when the driving time makes a second driver necessary: at most 9 hours a day are allowed, twice a week 10 hours, with a break at the latest after 4.5 hours.

- Plan three to six months ahead, when the choice is widest and the price often better.
- Pin down your pick-up location and destination precisely so we can calculate the route cleanly.
- Give us the exact number of people so we can find the right coach size.
- Tell us whether you would like drinks on board. We check what is possible in the intended vehicle and list the cost separately.

How many people fit in a coach?
Depending on the vehicle, a coach holds 18 to 58 seats. The most common vehicles in service seat around 50. For fewer than 18 people the minibus with up to 17 seats fits, and from 60 people the double-decker with up to 80.
Can I also hire a coach for 20 or 25 people?
Yes. The coach class starts at 18 people. For 20 to 25 passengers we use a compact coach. Compared with two minibuses you get one driver instead of two, one departure time instead of two and one group travelling together.
Which coach suits 30 people?
For 30 people we prefer a compact coach. If none is available for your date, a larger vehicle with up to 58 seats steps in. That barely changes the price, because driver, kilometres and fuel drive the cost, not the number of seats.
Is a coach with 58 seats not too big for 25 people?
It is not too big in the sense of too expensive: the price depends on route, duration and driver, hardly on the number of seats. In practice the larger coach means free neighbouring seats, more legroom and storage for luggage or event material.
Is a coach that is not fully occupied still eco-friendly?
Yes. The German Environment Agency puts long-distance coach travel at around 30 grams of CO2 equivalent per passenger kilometre, and that figure already assumes a load factor of only 53 percent. Is a driver always included when hiring a bus?
Yes, all buses are hired with a driver. We do not offer self-drive rental. The drivers come from our vetted partner network, know the routes and observe the statutory driving and rest periods.
What is included in the price when I hire a bus with driver?
Included are the vehicle, driver, fuel, insurance, tolls and the statutory break times. Not included are ferry fees, city tolls, parking charges and the driver’s overnight stay on multi-day tours. These items are listed separately in the offer.
When does a second driver become necessary?
A driver may steer for at most 9 hours a day, twice a week 10 hours, with a break at the latest after 4.5 hours. If that is not enough for the outward and return trip on the same day, we plan in a second driver. That is the clearest jump in cost for day trips.
How far in advance should I hire a coach?
Three to six months’ lead time is ideal, when the choice of vehicles is widest and the price usually better. In high season and around major trade-fair dates, aim for the upper end. Short-notice enquiries can often be solved through the partner network.
Coach or double-decker: what suits from 40 people?
Up to 58 people the coach is the way, and for a group of 40 it is the more economical choice. From about 60 people the double-decker pays off, because 80 seats are covered by a single driver. Between 50 and 60 people we calculate both options.
Can I add drinks on board?
Yes. Mention the wish in your enquiry, then we clarify with the partner what is possible in the intended vehicle and record it in the offer as a separate item. Further wishes such as catering, branding or on-board support are arranged the same way.
