City bus

The umbrella term for buses in local public transport: standing places, several wide doors, grab rails, designed for short distances with frequent stops. We rent them out as a shuttle for works transport, trade fairs and events, with driver and outside scheduled service.

Articulated bus

An overlength city bus joined in the middle by a rotating articulation. Up to 18.75 metres long and, with around 140 passengers, the bus type with the highest capacity. The articulation keeps it manoeuvrable enough for narrow inner-city routes despite the length.

Low-floor bus

Describes the design of the entrance: no platform, no step, the floor sits at kerb height and can often be lowered further. That noticeably speeds up passenger changes at every stop and eases boarding with a pram, walker or luggage.

Because so many people travel in one vehicle, consumption per head is low. The German Environment Agency reports around 30 grams of CO2 equivalent per passenger kilometre for long-distance buses, while a car sits at 164 grams. For a fully occupied articulated bus, the per-head figure works out correspondingly favourably.

Are low-floor buses accessible?
